The NSW Government has introduced regulations to allow that state’s local governments to reduce and waive fees in order to assist ratepayers – businesses and residents – affected by the COVID-19 measures. The full list of regulation changes can be found on the website of the NSW Office of Local Government.
Of most interest to AICR members are the regulation changes that give Councils the right to delay sending the first quarterly rate for 2020/21, and to extend the payment due date by one month. As well, Councils can also waive or reduce fees for inspections and footpath usage by food outlets.
